Tyrese Gibson met New Jersey-born social worker Samantha in 2015 through mutual friends.

When they tied the knot in 2017, a source told TMZ that Lee holds a Master's degree in social work, which she got from the University of Georgia.

At the time, she was reportedly putting her education to good use by "fighting sex and human trafficking and counseling for inmates."

She was also believed to be "well paid."

In October 2018, Lee gave birth to Soraya, the daughter she shares with Gibson.

It's unclear if Lee is still actively working as a social worker to this day, but her Instagram bio states that she is an LCSW, which stands for Licensed Clinical Social Worker.

It is also stated there that she is a fitness and beauty influencer.

In December 2020, Gibson and Lee announced that they were divorcing.

The exes said in a joint statement at the time: "After much thought, consideration, and prayer, we unfortunately have made the difficult decision to officially separate and divorce.

"Our intention is to remain the best of friends and strong coparents. 

"We feel incredibly blessed to have found each other and deeply grateful for the [nearly] four years we have been married to each other."

They went on: "Our journey together has been a ride of both ups and downs, but it's a journey that neither of us would have chosen to take with anyone else.

"As if 2020 hasn't already been extremely grueling and challenging to us all, we wanted to mutually speak on this now to keep this energy in 2020 and not take this energy into 2021."

In April 2023, TMZ reported that after a lengthy custody battle, Gibson was mandated by the court to pay $237,944 in back child support for Soraya, as well as $399,000 for Lee's attorney fees.

This apparently did not sit well with Gibson, with the actor telling The Shade Room: "Everything will be appealed. My attorney, Tonya Mitchell Graham stated that at least 30 things beyond the scope of the law was miss handled and flat out egregious and illegal.”

Norma Mitchell was Gibson's first wife. The couple tied the knot in 2007.

The marriage lasted just two years, with the two splitting split in 2009. Their separation took a turn for the worse when they battled it out in court for the custody of their daughter, Shayla.

Mitchell sought a temporary restraining order, while Gibson called her “bitter” among claims and counterclaims.

Before one court hearing, Gibson seemed to have a meltdown and cried as he shouted “please don’t take my baby,” and “no one will hire me Norma” into a camera.

The following day he shared a video on Instagram saying he was “ok”.

The two eventually got 50/50 joint custody of Shayla and a judge denied Norma's request for a permanent restraining order against Gibson.
